Leather Care: How to keep your Avryn Co. items looking their best!

We offer our products in three types of leather; Classic, Satin, and Pebbled. Read more about how to best care for your leather!

Classic Leather

Our Classic leather is vegetable tanned and becomes buttery soft with use. It can roll with the punches of daily life but a little extra care will keep it looking its best. Avoid exposing Classic leather items to water (pro tip- tuck your wristlet/wallet under your shirt/jacket when caught in the rain). Classic leather can be treated with a leather protectant such as mink oil to soften the leather and give added water resistance. Vegetable tanned leather will patina and show wear over time, making your products unique to you. The aniline finishing process allows the natural character of the leather to be seen; some color variation or marks natural to the hide will be visible and should be considered marks of character.

Consider applying a leather conditioner such as Smith's Leather Balm when new and again every few months for proactive maintenance to protect and enhance the beauty of this luxurious material. Check out the video at the bottom of this post for a demo of applying leather conditioner.

Satin Leather

Our Satin leather is vegetable tanned like our Classic leather but finished with a higher amount of oil to give it a light sheen and soft hand. Satin leather water resistance is slightly higher than untreated Classic leather but is not waterproof and water that soaks in may leave a spot, especially on lighter color options. Leather treatment is not recommended due to the higher oil content of the leather. Vegetable tanned leather will patina and show wear over time, making your products unique to you. The aniline finishing process allows the natural character of the leather to be seen; some color variation or marks natural to the hide will be visible and should be considered marks of character.

Pebbled Leather

Our Pebbled leather is finished with a treatment that makes the surface waterproof and scratch-resistant. No additional surface treatment is necessary. A damp soft cloth can be used to wipe away dirt from the pebbled surface.

*Peachy Coral and Original Tropical Teal (released in 2021) are not pebbled but are finished similarly to the Pebbled leather and are waterproof.
